I am a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and French with Texas teacher
certification. After teaching for two years in Killeen, Texas, I returned to the University of Texas (HOOK 'EM HORNS) where I earned a Masters of Education degree with a specialization in Curriculum and Instruction.
While traveling with my husband in the U.S. Marine Corps, I was able to teach at many community and junior colleges throughout the country and overseas. When we settled back home in Austin in 1991, I enjoyed teaching Spanish at Deerpark Middle School for 12 years.
In the spring of 2003, I was chosen to represent the Deerpark campus as their Teacher of the Year. In May 2003, this honor expanded when I was selected as the Round Rock ISD Secondary Teacher of the Year. In recognition of this honor, a resolution (H.R. No.109) was adopted by The Texas House of Representatives on July 25, 2003. In the fall of 2003, I moved to McNeil High School (GO MAVS) where I LOVE teaching Spanish.
I enjoy walking, shopping, keeping in touch with friends, and traveling. My travels have taken me to Spain, France, Germany, England, Italy, Austria, Canada, Hawaii, Gibraltar, Mexico, Nicaragua, Hong Kong, and Okinawa, Japan. When possible, I enjoy spending my summers in New Hampshire with family, or at the beach in Port Aransas, or in Cuernavaca, Mexico studying at the Instituto Mexicano de Español y Cultura .
I'm looking forward to a year of language study that is both fun and challenging for all of my students.
