Grading Policy (on level)
McNeil High School
World Languages Grading Policy
Grade Categories: Each category will contain an adequate number of grades to represent the student’s mastery
of the course objectives. (*for on level courses)
Major Grade: 40% (Summative assessments: Test/Projects/Presentations)
Major Quiz: 30% (Formative assessments: Quiz, Interpersonal and Presentational communications)
Daily Grades: 20% (Formative evaluations: Class activities, interpersonal and independent)
Homework: 10% (Reinforcement of acquired skills and proficiencies--study/review at home)
Redo/Retest Policy: (assignments completed yet failed)
Students may retake/redo ONE major grade (exam, test, project) and ONE major quiz grade per grading cycle ONLY if all other required assignments have been completed. Failure to complete all other assignments will cause the student to lose the opportunity to redo/retest a failed assignment. If a student has completed all assigned activities and desires to redo a failed assignment (as noted above), he/she may receive tutoring through:
· tutorial sessions or during FLEX tutorials
· review materials/study guides
· online activities/workbook reinforcement
Only one opportunity to redo/retest will be offered. The student must take the initiative to redo the failed assignment. The redo must be completed no later than 5 school days after the grade has been posted to HAC. The maximum grade possible for any redo/retest is a 70.
Should the student fail the redo/retest, the higher of the two grades (the initial grade and the redo/retest) will be recorded.
Late Work Policy:
Late assignments
· may be accepted one school day late for a maximum grade of 70.
· may be accepted one class (block) day late for a maximum grade of 50.
· no late work will be accepted after one class (block) day has passed.
